ZONI Sportsmanship Awards

Sportsmanship Mission Statement

Good sportsmanship is the attitude and behavior that exemplifies positive support of the interscholastic volleyball program for schools as well as for the individuals who participate in those programs. People involved in all aspects of interscholastic volleyball are expected to demonstrate respect for others and display good sportsmanship.

ZONI’s Awards

Each season, ZONI recognizes teams that display good sportsmanship throughout the year. The recipients are determined by our membership. We ask each official to rate each team every time they officiate. All levels (varsity, junior varsity, sophomore, and freshman) are eligible. In rating a team, officials consider the sportsmanship of not only the players, but also their coaches and fans. All recipients receive certificates. The IHSA is also notified of all winners.

In 2005, ZONI established the Sportsmanship Banner Program to honor the top team each season. Winning schools will receive banners to hang in their gyms.
